ECMO Transport Workshop

  • Audience Target Audience: ECMO physicians and specialists, ECMO nurses, perfusionists and all members of the multidisciplinary ECMO team involved in ECMO retrieval and transfer.

Description and intended learning objectives:
The Course is suitable for new centers and for established centers wanting to build a mobile ECMO program

  1. To understand the challenges of transport and retrieval of patients on ECMO
  2. To describe how to prepare for and undertake safe transportation on ECMO
  3. To demonstrate importance of checklists and how to produce one
  4. To discuss and emphasis critical role of human factors in ECMO retrieval
  5. To practice, via simulation, safe transport of patients on ECMO
  6. To demonstrate diagnosis and management of ECMO emergencies during retrieval and transport on ECMO
